Come and celebrate the Centenary of the birth of Swami Abhishiktananda (Fr Henri Le Sauz) a remarkable French Bendectine monk who spent twenty-four years of his life in India immersed in traditional Indian philosophy and spirituality. Swami Abhishiktananda retained his Christian commitments but sought to reconcile these with the teachings and practices of Advaita Vedanta, and to live out the Hindu ideal of sannyasa (renunciant). The Centenary Celebration will be held at Shiva Ashram and will include a talk from Swami Shankarananda and the Reverend Hans Christiansen. Biographies of Speakers: Mahant Swami Shankarananda (Swamiji) is director of Shiva Ashram in Mt Eliza and the patron of the Hindu Community Council of Victoria (HCCV). He is a leading Hindu spokesperson for interfaith dialogue in Melbourne. Rev. Hans Christiansen is an Anglican priest and an oblate in the Camaldolese Benedictine Order, a contemplative monastic order committed to interfaith dialogue.
